Heather’s grandfather had a stroke while she was in high school, and this life-altering event opened her eyes to what an important role physical therapy can have in improving a person’s quality of life. She knew she wanted to help make this kind of difference in other people’s lives, so pursued her degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Her personal interest in exercise, sports, and mountain biking in particular led her in the direction of orthopedics, and she has spent the last 20 years treating a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, both simple and complex. She has a special interest in women’s health and has studied pelvic floor and oncology rehabilitation extensively through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute as well as the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. In her free time, Heather enjoys mountain biking, reading, cooking, and relaxing with her family.
